A gigantic skull washed up on a New Jersey beach, perplexing investigators. The bone was discovered on the beaches of Island Beach State Park on Sunday at the Barnegat Peninsula in Berkeley Township, according to officials on Facebook.
Officials initially were unsure of what type of marine monster it was. According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, it was eventually discovered to be the skull and lower jaw bone of a minke whale, as reported by the Asbury Park Press.
Some users observed on the Island Beach State Park’s Facebook post that the skull was most likely that of a minke whale. Others, on the other hand, had more “imaginative” ideas.
